Design Manager (Architecture & Civil Engineering)

Either architect or civil engineer.

Architecture graduate with extensive experience in structural and MEP coordination.

Civil engineer with strong architectural and services coordination experience.

Experience

12 - 15 years overall experience.

5 - 7 years in design coordination.

Responsibilities

• Architecture, Structural, and MEP coordination
• Consultant management (multiple external consultants)
• Authority submissions and follow-ups (local bylaws, fire, environmental, utilities)
• Site coordination and design issue resolution
• Drawing control, RFI management, and design freeze processes
• Managing deadlines under construction pressure

Technical Skills

Strong understanding of:

• Building systems and constructibility
• Statutory codes and approval processes
• MEP coordination logic (not calculations, but integration)
• Ability to challenge consultants technically without redesigning

Management Skills

• Programme planning and tracking
• Risk identification in the design stage
• Drawing issue prioritization
• Authority communication and negotiation
• Site problem-solving mindset
