About the Role
We are working with Canadian Series A–B startups and are looking for a hands-on finance professional who can own the entire financial reporting lifecycle end-to-end.
This is not a narrow bookkeeping role. You’ll be responsible for:
- Setting up and maintaining clean bookkeeping systems
- Producing high-quality financial reports
- Generating insights for founders and investors
- Building scalable, tech-enabled finance processes across multiple startups
You’ll work directly with the founder, have meaningful ownership, and play a core role in shaping how finance and reporting are done across the business.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Operations & Bookkeeping
- Set up and manage bookkeeping for multiple startups (QuickBooks and/or Xero)
- Design and maintain charts of accounts, month-end close processes, and controls
- Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and audit-readiness
Financial Reporting & Insights
- Prepare monthly financial statements (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow)
- Build founder- and investor-ready reporting packs
- Translate numbers into clear insights (runway, burn, trends, risks)
- Support investor updates and performance reporting
Systems, Automation & Analytics
- Build efficient reporting workflows using modern tools
- Implement automations to reduce manual work and improve accuracy
- Help design scalable systems that can support multiple companies
- Continuously improve reporting speed, quality, and clarity
Stakeholder Communication
- Work closely with founders, partners, and internal stakeholders
- Present and explain financial data clearly to non-finance audiences
- Support meetings with Canadian / US-based clients when needed
Requirements
- At least 5 years of relevant experience in finance, accounting, or financial reporting
- Chartered Accountant (CA) or equivalent strong accounting qualification
- Hands-on experience with QuickBooks and/or Xero
- Prior experience working with international clients (Canada / US preferred)
- Strong understanding of the end-to-end reporting lifecycle
- Comfortable building systems, processes, and documentation from scratch
- Tech-savvy mindset; experience with automations is a strong plus
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Proactive, ownership-driven, and detail-oriented
Working Hours & Setup
- In-person (Lahore, DHA Phase 1)
- Core working hours: 10:00 AM – 6:00 PM PKT
- Must be comfortable attending occasional meetings in Canadian / US Eastern hours
