Position Specific Overview

We are looking for an experienced Head of Mobile Engineering to lead the development and strategy of our mobile applications. This role will primarily focus on Android development (80%), while also overseeing iOS development (20%) to ensure alignment across platforms.

You will be responsible for defining the mobile architecture, engineering standards, and development roadmap while managing a team of Android and iOS engineers. You will work closely with Product, Design, Data, and Backend teams to deliver scalable, high-performance mobile applications that serve a rapidly growing user base.

A strong focus on Android engineering expertise, combined with technical leadership, mentoring, and cross-platform oversight, is critical for this role.

Responsibilities

• Lead the mobile engineering team, primarily focusing on Android while overseeing iOS development
• Define and drive the technical strategy and roadmap for mobile platforms
• Architect and build scalable, high-performance mobile applications
• Ensure the performance, quality, security, and responsiveness of mobile applications
• Collaborate with Product, Design, and Backend teams to define and ship new features
• Establish engineering best practices, coding standards, and development processes
• Mentor and grow Android and iOS engineers through technical leadership
• Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks and production issues
• Oversee mobile architecture, CI/CD pipelines, and code quality standards
• Ensure mobile apps are optimized for scale, reliability, and performance
• Guide adoption of modern technologies and frameworks across mobile platforms

Technical Skills & Requirements

• Strong expertise in Android development using Kotlin and Java
• Good understanding of iOS development (Swift / SwiftUI) to guide cross-platform teams
• Experience with Android frameworks such as Google Maps, GPS optimization, Room DB, etc.
• Strong experience with RESTful APIs and mobile-backend integration
• Experience with offline storage, threading, and performance optimization
• Familiarity with push notifications, cloud messaging, and mobile analytics
• Understanding of mobile architecture patterns (MVVM, Clean Architecture, etc.)
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel and Access
• Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) is a plus
• Knowledge of data processing systems and data analysis techniques
• Understanding of data privacy laws and regulations
• Accurately enter and update data into databases and spreadsheets
• Verify and review inputted data for accuracy and completeness
• Maintain confidentiality and security of information for both internal and external stakeholders
• Collaborate with team members to ensure data quality and consistency
• Assist in developing and maintaining efficient data management processes
• Generate reports and data analysis summaries as required
• Identify and correct data entry errors using appropriate quality control methods
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and code versioning tools (Git)
• Strong understanding of UI/UX principles and mobile design guidelines
• Experience building large-scale consumer mobile applications

Experience

• 6+ years of mobile engineering experience
• Prior experience leading mobile engineering teams
• Experience working in fast-paced, high-growth startups is a strong plus
• Strong problem-solving, analytical, and system design skills
