About Orange Tree Systems
Orange Tree Systems (OTS) builds healthcare technology and select complementary products that remove friction from real-world clinical and operational workflows. We move fast, iterate pragmatically, and focus on solutions that deliver measurable impact for users and internal teams.
The Opportunity
We are looking for a Python Automation Engineer to help eliminate manual, repetitive, and error-prone workflows across clinical and operations teams. You will work closely with stakeholders to understand how work actually happens, then design and deploy reliable automations using Python, APIs, web automation, RPA tools, and lightweight AI utilities.
This is a hands-on engineering role focused on execution, reliability, and ROI rather than research. Strong communication is essential. You will interview stakeholders, map processes, translate requirements into technical solutions, and enable teams to safely self-serve.
What You’ll Do
- Identify automation opportunities by partnering with clinical and operations stakeholders to uncover high-impact workflows and create simple process maps.
- Build production automations by designing, developing, testing, and deploying solutions using Python, scripts, APIs, and RPA tools.
- Integrate systems by orchestrating workflows across Airtable, Jira, OpenPhone, and email systems using APIs, webhooks, and event-driven patterns.
- Apply AI-assisted workflows such as summarization, classification, routing, and document parsing with proper guardrails and PHI or PII protection.
- Ensure reliability by implementing logging, retries, idempotency, alerting, and basic SLOs while continuously improving automations using feedback and usage data.
- Document and enable teams by writing clear SOPs and walkthroughs so non-technical teammates can safely operate and extend automations.
- Measure impact by tracking hours saved, cycle-time reductions, error-rate improvements, and overall ROI.
- Maintain security and compliance using least-privilege access, secret management, auditability, and alignment with HIPAA and SOC 2 practices.
Must-Have Qualifications
- Proven experience building workflow automations using Python, scripts, APIs, and/or RPA tools.
- Strong proficiency in Python for automation, integrations, and data transformation. JavaScript is a plus.
- Solid understanding of REST APIs, OAuth, webhooks, pagination, and rate limits.
- Hands-on experience with web automation tools such as Selenium or Playwright.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to gather requirements and write clear technical documentation.
- Strong ownership mindset with the ability to scope, deliver, monitor, and iterate end to end.
Nice to Have
- Experience with LLM orchestration frameworks such as LangChain or LlamaIndex and retrieval-augmented generation patterns.
- Familiarity with vector databases.
- Healthcare data experience including PHI-safe handling.
- Exposure to FHIR or HL7 and EHR or EMR integrations.
- Awareness of modern AI tooling including OpenAI, Azure OpenAI, Anthropic, Google models, Ollama, or vLLM.
