POSITION OVERVIEW
Client is seeking an experienced Insurance Defense Attorney to join its North Jersey team. This role is designed for an attorney with 3-8 years of insurance defense litigation experience who is comfortable independently managing a caseload while working closely with experienced litigators and firm leadership. Experience handling New Jersey automobile liability matters is strongly preferred.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage a caseload of insurance defense matters from inception through resolution
- Draft pleadings, discovery requests and responses, motions, briefs, reports, and other litigation documents
- Conduct and defend depositions, handle motion practice and court appearances
- Participate in arbitrations and mediations, prepare matters for trial
- Handle automobile liability matters under New Jersey law
- Maintain strong relationships with insurance carriers, claims professionals, and corporate clients
- Conduct legal research, draft persuasive motions/briefs/memoranda
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
- Juris Doctor from an accredited law school
- Active New Jersey law license
- 3-8 years of insurance defense litigation experience
- Experience independently managing litigation matters
- Experience handling pleadings, discovery, depositions, and motion practice
- Strong legal research/writing and oral advocacy skills.
Strong Plus
- New Jersey automobile liability defense experience
- Experience representing insurance carriers or self-insured entities
- Arbitration/mediation/trial/courtroom experience
- Premises liability experience
- Existing relationships with insurance carriers or claims professionals.
WORK ENVIRONMENT
Flexible hybrid - new attorneys generally expected 2-3 days/week in the Jersey City office initially, loosely enforced.
